Supervision
I think of supervision as a reflective, supportive and educational space where workers/students can feel safe to critically and vulnerably reflect on their professional practice while also receiving guidance and encouragement to develop their preferred professional identities.
I utilise critical reflection models of supervision to invite the supervisee to identify their implicit assumptions and biases about practice, power and identity and then construct new ways of approaching practise that are both personally validating and aligned with the social work values.
My services are suitable for:
Social Work students and new graduates
Social workers employed in government and non-government settings
AND who work in the following areas: psychiatric (a.k.a. “mental health”) system, alcohol and other drugs, eating and body image.
Group supervision for government and non-government programs in ‘mental health’ and ‘alcohol and other drug’ concerns.
My services are not suitable for supervisees wishing to utilise mainstream clinical approaches to emotional distress and drug use (such as DSM5 and mental illness/addiction disorder models).
